Friday 3rd June 2022 – A day in Santiago de Compostela

Relatively quiet day in Santiago. Met quite a lot of people whom we had previously crossed paths with. We are hoping for something of a big reunion later before going to the evening service in the cathedral, but the logistics may prove difficult?
Anyway going to close the blog at this point. We have had a wonderful experience and met many lovely people from every continent. Thanks to everyone for following and trust you found it entertaining, and we hope that maybe it proved inspiring for some and may encourage similar ventures.

David very happy when Jim handed him his walking stick (Makila) as we approached Santiago

    Dear Jim, Dear Sue,
Congratulations and Well Done on the completion of your ‘walk’. And thank you for the photos. Surprised and informed to see in the early ones that you walked on green, grass and heath. I expected to see you against desert colours, the Pyranees being of arid stone and sand. But recently a satellite photo on TV showed them to be green, You’ve told us about some charming and interesting people, and you both look well. Amazing that you started a couple of days after Angus’ funeral and have just finished. Many of your reports, I have still to look at, and am looking forward. And to going up to Tarland at the end of the month. Thank you for that, Jim and Sue. When I’m feeling poetic I’ll tell you what that means to me. All the best, Jim P.

    Dear Jim and Susan,
Very well done, a triumph. It is indeed an epic achievement – I know, having done the 500 miles from St Jean Pied de Port with my partner Ginny last September. The feeling on the final day, after 39 days and that final long last walk into Santiago, is entirely amazing and delightful. Congratulations from Ginny and me.
    All best, Kenny B
